I was unaware of the extent of the damage we are doing, forcing me to reflect that by killing species, we are not only harming them but also ourselves. He enlightened us with the knowledge that humanity is doing the best it ever has however, we are doing it at the expense of other species. He educated the audience by placing attention on the fact that as humans, our main priority is always helping ourselves and enhancing our health and quality of life. Craig Stephen helped us understand the responsibility we hold to help save the planet. The first speaker was amazing and truly grasped my attention.

We both were interested in the same speakers therefore, we decided to spend the day together. We mingled as the crowd settled in and discussed which presentations we found interesting. The event was about to begin in the university’s lecture hall and as I took my seat, I recognized the student beside me, as we are both part of the CORE program. My knowledge began to expand as I read through the posters and realized that this symposium covered a large range of issues we are facing today in society. I found myself captured by these posters as they gave me an insight to the research projects which would be presented later during the event. I arrived approximately 20 minutes prior to the start time and did not recognizing anyone, I decided to analyze the displayed posters that were designed by students.

As a student, free food always enhances an experience. The morning started off well as I was greeted, given a package and offered an assortment of breakfast snacks and beverages. I had few expectations, an open mind and a thirst for knowledge. I went in unaware of what to expect from the event, as it was the first symposium I have attended. The structure, definitions, correspondence tables, and an Introduction summarising the updating process, outlining the methodology and conceptual model used and describing the main differences between ISCO-88 and ISCO-08 will be released in book form as ISCO-08 Volume 1. Final definitions of the ISCO-08 groups are currently available on this Website in English only. The resolution adopting ISCO-08, the classification structure and correspondence tables with ISCO-88 are available on the ISCO Website in English, French and Spanish. Many countries are now updating their national classification either based on ISCO-08 or to improve alignment with the new international statistical standard. The updated classification was adopted in December 2007 and is known as ISCO-08. The updating did not change the basic principles and top structure of ISCO-88 but significant structural changes were made in some areas. ISCO has recently been updated to take into account developments in the world of work since 1988 and to make improvements in light of experience gained in using ISCO-88. Many current national occupational classifications are based on one of these three ISCO versions. The third version, ISCO-88, was adopted by the Fourteenth ICLS in 1987. This version was superseded by ISCO-68, which was adopted by the Eleventh ICLS in 1966. The first version of ISCO was adopted in 1957 by the Ninth International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS). Client oriented applications include the matching of job seekers with job vacancies, the management of short or long term migration of workers between countries and the development of vocational training programmes and guidance. It is intended for use in statistical applications and in a variety of client oriented applications.
